Founder Friday: Before Hairbrella, there was band camp 🥁

Football season always takes me back to high school: band camp, Friday night lights, and long practices in the Georgia heat.

Back at Tri-Cities High School, I was Senior Class President and third chair on the snare drum—which was a big deal because girls rarely made the snare line.

I loved it. My hair? That was another story. 😅

Between the heat, sweat, and the occasional random Georgia shower, I wanted a way to tie my hair up and keep it protected without looking like I was doing the most.

So I wore bandanas. And I can’t lie—they gave me a little swag. Very Aaliyah, IYKYK. 😎

But regular cotton bandanas were rough on my edges, stripped moisture from my hair, and did absolutely nothing when the weather decided to act up.

Years later, that memory became the Hairbrella Bandana: satin-lined, waterproof, and cute enough that hair protection doesn’t have to look like hair protection.

I basically created the bandana I wished I had on that field: something I could tie my hair up in through long practices and games, protect my edges and moisture, and still be ready if one of those Georgia showers showed up.

Some people tie their hair down in it at night. Some wear the paisley styles purely as fashion. Others grab it for cooking, grilling, workouts, walks, travel, or any day when the forecast looks a little suspicious.

That’s still my favorite kind of innovation: something that solves a real hair problem, handles real life, and still looks good doing it.
